Spring has sprung, and with it, a plethora of new beauty trends that will shake up a stale look and put an extra bounce in your step. Now that the sun is shining and warm weather is approaching, it’s time to change up your look. Here are six popular beauty trends for this spring that will bring you out of that chilly weather funk:
1. Bright lipstick
Spring is the perfect time to be a bit bolder with your choice of lip color. Away with the berry and jewel tones of winter; now’s the time for fun, flirty colors. Instead of a deep or crimson red, lean toward tangerine or bright pink.
2. White teeth
That bright lipstick won’t look so pretty against yellowed teeth, and even if you don’t think your smile has lost its bright whiteness, certain shades of lipstick definitely bring out discoloration. That’s why you should explore teeth whitening procedures, such as the KöR Whitening System, if you want those pearly whites to shine.
3. Highlighting and contouring with makeup
Using makeup to highlight and contour the face, a long-popular method used by professional makeup artists, is a major trend this season. The key is making your work look subtle and believable. All you need is a matte shading cream or powder, and a highlighter cream or powder. Be sure to only use one or the other type of product—in other words, if your foundation is powder, use powder for your contouring and highlighting, and vice versa. Otherwise, your efforts will look caked on. Highlighting product should be as close to your own skin tone as possible with a bit of shine, while contouring cream or powder should be one shade darker.
4. Shimmery eyes
Another fun, pretty trend that adds pizzazz to your look is shimmery eyeshadow and eyeliner. These products draw attention to your eyes and can even make them look brighter and more open. You can either choose shades that complement your eye color, or select bright colors that you’d never have considered wearing a few months ago. Spring is a time for bright, vibrant color and a little sparkle.
5. Defined brows
The eyes are the windows to the soul, and a well-defined set of eyebrows frames those windows—in fact, they frame the entire face. Thin eyebrows are most definitely out! First, shape your brows with a spoolie brush, then gently fill them in with a sharpened pencil as close to your own brow color as possible. Use a similarly-colored powder and small, stiff brush to fill in even further. Brush through again then apply tinted gel to set your brows in place.
6. Highlighted hair
Spring is most definitely not the season for flat, one-dimensional hair color! Some of this year’s hottest trends involve adding caramel highlights to dark brown hair, honey blonde to lighter shades of brown, and light blonde to sandy blonde hair. Don’t be afraid to have fun and let the spirit of growth and freshness this season brings extend to your hair.
