Women want Kate’s smile. Why? Because it’s natural.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been all over the news lately.  First it was the engagement, then the royal wedding, the pregnancy, and now the royal baby. Why is the world — namely the Brits — so obsessed with the common born-turned princess?

The answer unanimously (aside from her good looks and stunning wardrobe) is her perfect teeth! In fact, UK women have become so obsessed over the duchess and her glorious smile that in the past year spending on cosmetic dentistry has increased in the UK by 35%.

When women enter cosmetic dentistry practices such as The Perfect Smile in Hertfordshire, they’re not just coming in for a whitening.  According to the Daily Mail Online, “an overwhelming number of women said that they would most like to match the mouth of Duchess Kate when asked which celebrity teeth they would like to have.”

Most women have opted for teeth whitening and veneers in order to get close to Kate’s perfect smile.  But the truth is, the duchesses ‘perfect’ smile is so appealing because it’s actually imperfect.  Yes.  Just take a look at her photos:

Kate’s teeth aren’t completely straight across.  In America where we are fixated on straight-across upper and lower teeth, our smiles won’t look anything like Kate’s.  That’s because her teeth are not even — they’re misaligned on purpose, thanks to the work of French dentist Dr. Dider Fillion.

Teeth with porcelain veneers. Perfectly straight — but it’s not like Princess Kate!

Dr. Fillion’s specialty is molding the mouth into an aesthetically pleasing shape.  The results aren’t instantaneous and his services won’t come cheap — Dr. Fillion charges anywhere between £4,000 to £11,000 and molding a person’s teeth will take anywhere between 6 months to a year.

What Dr. Fillion does is use a method he calls ‘micro-rotation’ which can be done in more than one way, depending on how long it will take to achieve the desired smile.  For the long-term, Dr. Fillion attaches orthodontics or invisible braces to the backs of the teeth.  For a short term solution, he can grind down and polish the teeth or use porcelain veneers to achieve Kate’s “natural, healthy smile.”

Unfortunately, most women won’t be able to afford Dr. Fillion’s pricey treatments, especially now that he has been credited with Kate Middleton’s smile.  Fortunately, other cosmetic dentists provide more affordable options to patients who just want a teeth whitening or veneer application.

If you’re interested in achieving Princess Kate’s smile, Dr. Sadati offers a multitude of cosmetic dentistry procedures including implants, veneers, crowns, whitening, etc.  Check out his full list of cosmetic services offered here.
