West Palm Beach Dentist Awarded National Honor

Dr. Sam Sadati shatters the traditional conception of a visit to the dentist with his Miami area office. Stress-free, inviting and technologically savvy, his Sadati Center for Aesthetic Dentistry has been recognized nationally as the “Best Dental Office Design of the Year” for 2005.

at the Florida Center for Aesthetic Dentistry offers the ambiance and pampering of a spa from the moment a patient enters the office. In point of fact, Sadati likes to say he doesn’t treat patients – he creates smiles for patients.

Indeed, these patients are not greeted by a receptionist behind a sliding pane of frosted glass, but a pleasant concierge offering a range of refreshments including fresh-brewed Starbucks coffee, hot Persian tea, other assorted drinks and fresh baked Otis Spunkmeyer cookies.

Like the open reception area, the expansive hygienist suites are warmly lit and well appointed. Each is equipped with a flat-panel screen on which patients can watch television and DVDs, or even the dental artistry going on in their own mouths via intra-oral camera. “I haven’t met anybody who wanted to do that, but it’s possible,” Dr. Sadati said. Patients can use the headphones to enjoy the entertainment of the sounds of a CD from the office library. “They can also bring their own CD, and we’ll play it for them. Or I even offer to sing for them,” Dr. Sadati joked.

A fountain in each room provides the soothing sound of trickling water while patients enjoy the comfort of warm neck pillows and a massage chair during their dental visit. at the Florida Center for Aesthetic Dentistry also offers aromatherapy oils and lotions, and the paraffin hand wax therapy to further enhance the relaxation. Warm lemon-scented towels refresh patients after their dental treatment.

Sadati designed his offices to remove every imaginable cause of stress that may pop up in an ordinary dental visit, even placing the dental tools out of view behind the patient’s chair. “Everything is designed to make the guest more comfortable and to put them at ease,” he said.

Integration of cutting-edge technology was part of the criteria for winning the sixth annual office design of the year award, sponsored by the Matsco Companies and Dental Economics magazine.

“We use digital x-rays to minimize the amount of radiation by up to 90 percent,” Sadati said.

The digital x-rays can be brought up on a computer screen for immediate viewing. The office is also paperless and employs wireless computer technology. Sadati called on the expertise of an architect to design the office’s ergonomics. But the details that set the office apart reflect the taste of Sadati and his wife Olivia. Sadati said he and Olivia chose the Mediterranean style, ironwork accents, decorative flowers, two-tone crown molding, tile floor, warm lighting and fountains.

“I wanted to have a very welcoming atmosphere; truly to make it almost like my home,” Sadati said. “I’m proud of the combination of the friendly office design with the advanced technology.”

Sadati said he was flattered that a panel chose him for this national honor, but he considers earning and maintaining accreditation by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry one of his greatest achievements. “You can pay and you can have 10 designers design an office,” he said. “But accreditation is not something you can buy.”

Of the more than 7,000 academy members in 60 countries, roughly three percent have passed the rigid requirements and testing to become accredited. Sadati said, “Accreditation is what I am extremely proud of. I’m also a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry,” he noted.

When Sadati moved his practice to Wellington two years ago, he was looking to create a unique office. “I wanted to create something different for the people who are looking for something that is different and high-end. Obviously, I was able to achieve it,” he said. “We are in Wellington, but we do better-than-Hollywood dentistry in a better-than-Hollywood setting.”

But however well appointed the office may be, skill in dentistry is still the bottom line, “We deliver quality dentistry and service,” Sadati said. “I’m proud to have the best office and provide the best service.”
